Who answers
Who Answers, and When
- Day and night, free of charge and in confidence, calls in English or French are answered by Gambling: Help and Referral, known in French as Jeu : aide et référence. From anywhere in Québec the number is 1-800-461-0140; around Montréal, it is 514-527-0140.
- Québec residents who would rather write than call can chat with the same service at aidejeu.ca.
- Playground takes questions about the door at (450) 635-7653. That includes which identity documents are accepted, since that list is not published.
Self-exclusion
Self-Exclusion in Kahnawake
The Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission offers a Comprehensive Self-Exclusion. It applies to every land-based venue the KGC licenses, not to one building alone. The form is handed to venue management or to the KGC itself. It goes in with a photo and two pieces of government ID.
Ending the exclusion is not quick. A request to lift it is not considered before 6 months, and when a second request has been made, that wait becomes 2 years. If you are weighing the step, the help line above can talk it through with you first, in English or French.
Who Sets the Rules Here
Under the Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission, Playground Poker Club operates on a poker room licence, while Playground holds a licence for electronic gaming devices. The current Return to Player (RTP) percentages for the machines at Playground are also published by the KGC.
Age is the plain part. Playground welcomes only people 18 and over, on site and on its website alike. In Québec, 18 is also the age a person has to be to gamble.
Kahnawà:ke regulates gaming on its own territory through the KGC and calls that authority part of the community's sovereign rights. Loto-Québec has said that under the Criminal Code only provinces may offer games of chance. The two positions have not been reconciled.
One Habit for the Evening
Before taking a seat, decide the hour you will leave the table. Then fit the ride home into that same plan: who drives, or which bus you will catch, and when. The tables run around the clock, so nothing at the venue will end the evening for you. A time chosen at home will.
